Overview
The SSI Divemaster rating is the highest non-instructor professional level in the SSI system and represents a significant achievement in any diver’s career. The Divemaster rating is awarded to certified Dive Guides who have additionally completed the SSI Science of Diving specialty and logged a minimum of 60 open water dives totalling at least 40 hours in the water. As an SSI Divemaster, you possess the deepest possible knowledge of diving science, the highest level of practical in-water skill, and the professional leadership competencies to manage dive operations safely and effectively. Many SSI Divemasters go on to complete the Instructor Training Course and build careers teaching the world to dive — living and working in the ocean environments they love. It is, for those who earn it, the beginning of everything.
